Many high school students have no trouble constructing a simple sentence or two. Where they have problems is constructing paragraphs, then trying to connect those paragraphs together in an organized manner to form a well constructed essay. This is not only limited to high school students getting ready for the exit exam, or students preparing for the SAT test, but also college students still struggling to write simple, well constructed essays as well as many GED students.

Mr. Cox has been teaching essay writing for over 15 years to his GED students and he's developed a very simple, easy to understand format that his students have been using to successfully pass the essay portion of the GED Writing test. There are three sections to the essay video. The first section he explains certain things that the student should know in terms of organization and the difference between a general idea and a specific example. He also includes a complete four paragraph essay, written sentence by sentence, using these ideas and this format outline. Mr. Cox then constructs another full length four paragraph essay in the second section to further strengthen the students' writing ability. In the third section he constructs a full length five paragraph essay so that students see how they can organize an essay with as many paragraphs as they like.
